Best Place to Keep the Party Going
A brunch that starts at 2 p.m. almost sounds like it should be dinner instead, but considering that most of the Lavo Brunch revelers just rolled out of bed at around 1, it doesn’t really matter. Tao Group’s recently launched midday party—complete with confetti cannons, stilt-walkers, Nebuchadnezzars of champagne and a really fantastic eggs Benedict—is as much a place to refuel after a particularly raucous Friday night as it is to get the party started before a big Saturday night out. Banging beats get the diners up out of their seats and standing on them—or any other stable surface that isn’t covered with food. Bottle service is de rigueur, so chef Marc Marrone’s menu is stacked with dishes, such as the breakfast pizza, Milanese omelet and almond-crusted French toast, to ensure that day-drinkers consume other necessary calories and nutrients besides those from the wine group.
