With three days of dance music from dusk till dawn, inhibitions were lowered and pasties were in full bloom in June for Insomniac Events' first Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Sure, you could see many of the famous headliners such as Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, ATB, Paul Oakenfold, Afrojack and Above & Beyond at clubs on the Strip, but there's something about the outdoor multisensory environment at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that could never be duplicated on a single dance floor. Throw in carnival rides and hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Valley, and you've got the recipe for an unforgettable communal experience that makes the rest of the world take note of how one festival can shed light that dance music is here to stay—and faux fur and glitter are for everyone. Now if only there were a way to turn off the sun for a weekend.
