When a television through a window just isn’t subtle enough

We don’t know exactly what happened March 28 at Little Buddha in the Palms—maybe a busboy started taking Hanoi Rocks jabs—but Vince Neil wasn’t happy. So, he took to Twitter to slam the staff there. Then, after five days of relative calm, the Mötley Crüe frontman renewed his attack on the Palms, urging his followers not to go there.

That’s when things got fun.

In an eight-Tweet missive, the Palms laid out a vaguely worded case against Neil, ending with a terse “As a result of his actions, Mr. Neil is no longer welcome at Palms.” Not to put too fine a point on it, but what the hell is going on here?

A spokesman for the Palms declined to elaborate on what went into this decision to engage Neil in the public forum, so allow us to speculate: Social media has turned us all into 14-year-old girls, whining to anyone who’ll listen about how unfair the world is.

On one hand, a mighty rock star’s ego was lightly bruised, so he plays the drama queen in order to be assuaged that someone among his 200,000 followers will validate the non-problems of his privileged life. On the other hand, a multimillion-dollar business plays the part of exhausted parent, grounding a petulant child so none may accuse it of softness.

Call us old-fashioned, but give us the days of John Bonham dutifully hurling TVs out of hotel windows and quietly accepting exorbitant bills for damages, with none the wiser. Until the inevitable tell-all book, anyway.
