English indie-rock champions Arctic Monkeys gave us a mostly recycled—some might say “tried and true”—festival set, which highlighted 2013’s AM. After a foot-stomping beginning with “Do I Wanna Know?” frontman Alex Turner abandoned his guitar to slick back his hair and gyrate his hips during the raunchy “Arabella.”

While the AM songs sounded polished and well rehearsed, the band’s performance of older material paled in comparison. The jarring opening guitars of “Brianstorm” and “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” sounded messy and lacked intensity, despite guitarist Jamie Cook’s decision to swing his axe. Turner even appeared a little disinterested in singing the infectious hook of “Dancing Shoes.” The band redeemed itself with crowd pleasers “One For the Road” and “R U Mine?” And the audience’s cheers answered the question with a resounding “yes.” ★★★✩✩
