During Labor Day weekend, instead of partying with the EC Twins and Dirty South at Marquee in Las Vegas, I ventured to the newly opened HQ Nightclub (a partnership of Las Vegas’ Angel Management Group and New York’s EMM Group), where I did exactly the same thing I would have done at home … but in New Jersey and with a view of the ocean. A little more than a year after Angel Management Group stepped in to take over the operations and marketing of Rehab (and shortly thereafter, Vanity and the entire Hard Rock Beach Club), AMG and the Hard Rock Hotel are parting ways effective, Nov. 1. It came as no surprise that Miami Music Week was buzzing at a very high frequency this year, what with a number of prominent Las Vegas industry leaders helming some of the best events. MMW, held March 22-27, is the year’s biggest week of electronic dance music: the 12th annual Ultra Music Festival, Beatport Beach Party, Swedish House Mafia’s Masquerade Motel and a full roster at every Miami nightclub and pool.
