Put 54 in The Books

It’s been a long time since Studio 54 opened its doors 14 years ago, but nothing lasts forever. The way nightclubs age (dog years), nothing usually even lasts a decade. Feb. 4 was the last hurrah for the old dame, and it was up to LL Cool J to make it work. LL Cool J, who, by the by, was closer to “Mama Said Knock You Out” than NCIS when 54 first opened. Kaskade crowned Best DJ

America has voted, and like Nixon in ’68, the former runner-up has ascended to the top spot. Unlike Nixon in ’68, we’re assuming Kaskade isn’t going to bug the Democrats, although he does have some sweet new audio technology at his disposal in the form of the gold-plated Pioneer mixer he received at Marquee on Oct. 9 for winning DJ Times magazine’s 2011 America’s Best DJ award.
