    Best Residency

The old saw about Vegas residencies is that it’s where past-their-prime performers go to die. Not so with Soul2Soul, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s 20-show series at the Venetian. This superstar married couple is still at the top of their game: McGraw’s latest album, Two Lanes of Freedom, came out in February, and he’s touring in support of it. Hill has a new music video and single out, “American Heart.” Moreover, they join Garth Brooks and Shania Twain in a line of country stars taking over the Strip.

And as if to one-up “presidential candidate” on the audience luminary scale, when Tim McGraw and Faith Hill got to their opening weekend for Soul2Soul at the Venetian, they got a multiple-Oscar winner and beloved star of Bachelor Party Tom Hanks, plus favorite-musician-of-everyone-over-45 Bruce Springsteen. Although we imagine the lack of 28-minute, half-talked story-songs in the Soul2Soul set must’ve come as something of a disappointment to the Boss.

A husband-and-wife gig on the Las Vegas Strip: “Baby, isn’t that the way that love’s supposed to be?” It is when you’re Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The couple announced on Tuesday that their Soul2Soul “limited engagement” in the Venetian Theater will run for 10 weekends, from December to April.
