Morgans Hotel Group is like that kid on the playground who no one would play with, so he went away, then came back 10 minutes later and said no, he wasn’t Johnny. He was Johnny’s twin brother. Who just moved from Canada. You hadn’t met him yet. Which is a long way to go to say that Morgans—recently relieved of its Hard Rock Hotel management contract thanks to a mountain of debt—is now back as a player in Las Vegas thanks to a $46.5 million deal to acquire a 90 percent stake in nightlife mega operator the Light Group. Prince Harry visits Ye Royal Nightclubbery

It’s not every day we get the honor of a royal visit here. Sure, there was that time that HRH Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, helped rob the Sands with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. And who could forget when Queen Elizabeth was arrested for selling bogus Ecstasy at Ice back in ’03? Other than that, though, it’s few and far between for royal visits to Las Vegas. This weekend, though, Prince Harry, who’s in Arizona for military training with the British Army Air Corps, made the trek north. He came up on a Harley rented from a Scottsdale dealership, according to reports, and cruised on up Nov. 18. Read more »

Aww, Nelly has a friend. The St. Lunatic was in town to celebrate his 37th birthday when he ran into overpaid, underperforming Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford at Marquee’s Boom Box Room on Nov. 11 at the next table over. Apparently Crawford got in the birthday spirit because he sent over a magnum of Ace of Spades Rosé. Read more »

Studio 54 down to 58 days

Studio 54 at MGM Grand has endured, however, while contemporary after contemporary fell by the wayside. Since its grand opening on New Year’s Eve 1997 (and a soft opening that November), 54 has held on for 14 years. Or, seven Christian Audigier the Nightclubs, if you prefer.
