Before his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on Dec. 8 at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Manny Pacquiao reportedly met with a recently unemployed gentleman who told him, “Hi, Manny. I’m Mitt Romney. I ran for president. I lost.” You can see how well that worked for PacMan. But you guys! Romney is the real-life William H. Macy from The Cooler! Is he available to rent out to send to one’s enemies before they have important functions to attend? If so, he may finally be able to make some real money. Read more »

And as if to one-up “presidential candidate” on the audience luminary scale, when Tim McGraw and Faith Hill got to their opening weekend for Soul2Soul at the Venetian, they got a multiple-Oscar winner and beloved star of Bachelor Party Tom Hanks, plus favorite-musician-of-everyone-over-45 Bruce Springsteen. Although we imagine the lack of 28-minute, half-talked story-songs in the Soul2Soul set must’ve come as something of a disappointment to the Boss. Read more »

You can’t have a Rock ’n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon without a gaggle of Elvii running down a closed-to-traffic Strip. You also apparently can’t have one without suspended Saints coach Sean Payton running the half-marathon Dec. 2 (in 2 hours, 18 minutes—apparently he realizes how desperately New Orleans needs a cornerback and is working on his speed). Carla Pellegrino’s Meatball Spot is quickly becoming a place to dine among celebrities, which is no surprise given that it’s brought to you by some of the same people behind Sugar Factory and Chateau. Gaffigan Goes Back in Time for Thanksgiving

Comedian Jim Gaffigan had shows at The Mirage on Nov. 23 and 24, so he did what anyone in that situation would do: come into town early and skip the whole “actually preparing a meal for the whole family” nonsense. On the one hand, it’s surprising, given that 80 percent of what Gaffigan talks about is food. On the other hand, it’s completely understandable, given that of that 80 percent, 70 of it relates to fast food and Hot Pockets. Read more »
