Combine the forces of two of Las Vegas’ aesthetic titans, and you’d naturally expect to see bombastic results. That’s exactly what happened when Steve Wynn, megaresort cultivator and high-stakes art investor, convinced the chairman of Keep Memory Alive organization, Larry Ruvo, that downtown’s Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health designed by Frank Gehry needed just one final adornment. The clinic already has more than 4,000 pieces in its art collection, 40 of which are in Las Vegas. So it had to be something monumental. Something important. Read more »

Champagne flowed at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health when pop artist James Rosenquist’s Cervello Spazio Cosmico was unveiled on Nov. 20. Translated as “brain space,” the soaring piece was commissioned by casino mogul Steve Wynn and will be on permanent display at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center. Larry Ruvo, chairman and founder of Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising arm of the Center, invited 100 of his most significant donors to the unveiling and the dinner that followed. Read more »

When Larry Ruvo was ready to bring his Alzheimer’s research center to life, he was upfront about his ambitions. He wanted a name architect to design his building—because that would attract attention, interest, support and money. Ruvo got what he wanted—Frank Gehry, the most famous living architect in the world. Now Las Vegas will see if it gets what it wanted—an iconic piece of architecture—when the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health fully opens in May. Read more »
