High buffet standards, a worthy cause and a new pasta idea

There are two good reasons to partake of the Sunday lunch and early dinner buffet dubbed “High Society” at Nove Italiano in the Palms: the incredible cuisine of executive chef Geno Bernardo, and the wine kegs from Bob Cranston of Sigma Wine Co., poured for $10 to $12 a glass. The room is decorated with balloons and streamers, and by 3 p.m., the chef has rolled out his wonderful Sunday gravy, stocked with sausage, meatballs and pork shoulder, to complement his panini, summer salad, thin-crust pizzas, raw seafood bar, fruits and endless dessert table. Party Like a Playboy, or Not

The Playmate of the Year festivities at the Palms appear to have taken their toll on Hugh Hefner. The main event wrapped at Rain shortly before 11 p.m. May 15 and he barely popped by the Playboy Club long enough to make an appearance before bidding the party and the Palms adieu. He was on his private jet and L.A.-bound before midnight. Read more »

It’s pretty safe to say the entire planet breathed a sigh of relief when porn superstar Tera Patrick kicked her talentless freeloader of a husband, Evan Seinfeld, to the curb. (No, the biohazard has-been isn’t even deserving of boldface recognition.) Still, we’re somewhat worried for Ms. P after learning she’s been out and about (and presumably over and under) financially troubled record producer Scott Storch. Read more »
