Palms Casino Resort is apparently the place to be when you want to help feed hungry children in Southern Nevada. Two upcoming events have attracted the city’s top chefs and mixologists, who donate their time to create bites and sips in the name of feeding families in need. Best Coffee

Luiz OIiveira’s Sambalatte has the best coffee in the city, sourced from estates in his native Brazil, as well as Ethiopia and other countries that produce the fragrant berry. And his Nutella Latte is sheer genius. It’s a double espresso topped with sweet, thick foam redolent of the hazelnut and chocolate spread near to a baby boomer’s heart. $4.50,

Some dim sum, a killer cuppa and a hidden dining triforce

    By Max Jacobson

They grind and brew 100 percent Arabica beans from Rio Verde, Brazil, for your coffee at this new coffee emporium in Boca Park, but my choice for a cuppa Joe here is a delicious concoction made by mixing the hazelnut-chocolate spread Nutella with steamed milk and a big hit of espresso. $4.50, 750 S. Rampart Blvd., 272-2333.

A taste of Chicago, a great coffee deal and a Thai treasure

    By Max Jacobson

A friend who is a Chicago native told me about Windy City Beefs & Hot Dogs (7500 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Suite 10, 410-5016). Unfortunately, he did not come along for an Italian beef. He’s a devout vegetarian. He did eat meat as a younger man, though, and he still recognizes a good Chicago dog when he sees one. A poppy-seed bun is de rigueur, and so are add-ons such as celery salt, sport peppers and pickle spears.
