Sat. 29 Classic rock group Foghat is coming to the Orleans Showroom for a two-night stand. Known for classics such as “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City,” Foghat has seen a lot of lineup changes since the ’70s, and have also seen a recent spike in popularity after their tracks have been featured in modern films and the Guitar Hero video games. Wed. 12 Although the Liberace Museum is closed, the man’s influence lives on. Thu. 30 After an impressive start to the season, the UNLV men’s basketball team has hit a bit of a rough patch, including consecutive losses to Louisville and University of California, Santa Barbara. The Rebels try to regain their momentum at 7 p.m. when they take on the Central Michigan Chippewas at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Rebels should have no trouble with the team from the Mid-American Conference, as long as they don’t look ahead to facing rival BYU the following week. Wed. 22 In the early parts of the NCAA basketball season, teams travel the country participating in regional tournaments to test their skills against out-of-conference opponents. One of the most popular tournaments out west is the 10th annual Las Vegas Classic, which starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Orleans Arena. A field of eight teams from across the country will take center court, including Indiana University, University of Colorado, University of New Mexico and the University of Northern Iowa. Head out to the dirt roads outside Jean for the ninth annual TransWest Ford Henderson 250 Desert Race. Starting at 6:15 a.m., dirt bikes, trucks, cars, quads and dune buggies will race in the final event for the Best of the Desert series.
