St. Baldrick’s Foundation began in 2000 with three people shaving their heads on St. Patrick’s Day as a fundraiser for cancer research. Their goal was to collect $17,000; they raised $104,000. In 2011, St. Baldrick’s raised about $28 million, 82 percent of which goes directly to research. Get involved, if you don’t mind a little public humiliation, at either New York New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, or McMullan’s Irish Pub on Tropicana. Read more »
