    Putting Your Best Face Forward

    By Dr. Jeannie Khavkin

According to a recent report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, chin-augmentation procedures increased an astounding 71 percent between 2010 and 2011. The society attributes the uptick to the angle of the camera when using video chat technology, which can accentuate the appearance of a weak chin or a sagging neck.

A Fresh Face in Three Steps

    By Melissa Walsh

If you’ll be out all night and need to look good the next morning, here are a few foolproof tricks to keep you looking your best. 1. Prepare before you walk out the door. Leave makeup-removing wipes (Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes, $12, Sephora Town Square), eye drops (Naphcon A, $11.79, CVS Pharmacy, 3758 Las Vegas Blvd. South) and water by the bed. At the very least, when you get in, you can swipe your makeup off, put in drops and rehydrate with a glass of water. It’ll make a huge difference the next day and save precious sleep time.

Today, more than ever, concealer formulas have been transformed into more than just a camouflage. Many brands are adding skin-firming properties as well as vitamins to help rejuvenate the skin while covering flaws. Brightening additives have also been added to combat sallow skin.

Mix and match your way to a fresh look

    By Jenna Doughton

As I have been helping my clients get ready for the summer season, I have found myself reinventing a lot of what they already own. It’s been a fun process, and we’ve been doing a lot of pattern mixing. For most, this is a scary process, and men seem to be OK with it more than women. With summer’s overabundance of prints, it’s important to have the confidence to mix patterns and to be able to set yourself apart from the crowd.

When we travel, wouldn’t it be nice to have a staff toting our Louis Vuitton steamer trunks full of treasures? Most of us do not have this luxury, and with the travel season upon us, here’s how to pack perfect. My personal packing feat was getting a client set for a two-week African safari, hanging with wild animals by day and partying like a rock star by night. A New Season of Makeup

    By Whitney Urichuk

Spring is a good time to start purging your cosmetics bag. Throw away old makeup and add in new staples—new season, new you. Stash away the dark eye shadow and Vampira paint until fall. Smoky eyes, matte skin and dark lips give way to a spring glow. This season is all about color. From hot pink to neon green, spring does not discriminate in its array of shades.

A New Era in Beauty: HD Makeup

    By Whitney Urichuk

Beauty trends come and go, but I—along with most of the other makeup artists I work with—are hoping that HD (high-definition) makeup is here to stay. With most television programs being shot in HD, cameras are now magnifying our skin six times more than the human eye is capable of seeing. As a result, professional artists are required to use makeup that not only gives a flawless texture and reflects light, but that is able to cover redness and imperfections to a high degree.
