    Silver Lining

UNLV secured its most impressive win of the season at Cal, but it came with a heavy price. Mike Moser's elbow injury puts a damper on the victory and makes it tough to celebrate too loudly. He's one of the Rebels' most important players, and they'll need him at full strength in order to go as far as they want to in the postseason. Still, there was plenty to like about the Rebels' effort on Sunday. Let's tackle the good and the bad in this edition of "Ups and Downs." UPS

    Portlandia

    By Mike Grimala

It looked like UNLV was in serious trouble on Tuesday night. Playing at Portland without one of the their best players, injured junior Mike Moser, the Rebels struggled through the first 20 minutes and it appeared as though they might actually lose to a Pilots team that entered the game with a 3-4 record. But thanks to a spirited performance from a pair of backcourt stalwarts, along with a frontcourt fill-in, UNLV rallied to secure a hard-fought road win.

And what didn't? Let's jump right in. UPS

    Ups and Downs: Weekend edition

    By Mike Grimala

It was an up-and-down kind of weekend for UNLV, so what better way to look back at the Rebels' performance than with an "Ups and Downs" column? The Rebs played their two toughest opponents to date, and both games were tight, physical contests that came down to the final minutes. While some weaknesses were exposed, there were also plenty of bright spots for UNLV. Let's get into it. UPS

    Return of the Mike (Moser)

    By Mike Grimala

If the blowout win over Northern Arizona on opening night was the "good Rebels," and the exhibition scare against Dixie State was the "bad Rebels," Saturday's 77-58 victory over Jacksonville State was somewhere in the middle. There was plenty to like (starting with Mike Moser) and plenty to worry about (turnovers). Which, of course, is perfect for "Ups and Downs." UNLV def. Jacksonville State, 77-58
