This Is Our Show
By Shoot to KillFeb. 7, 2012
In front of its best home crowd since the last time the two met, UNLV was juiced from the beginning in an 80-63 triumph over New Mexico. With 18,577 fans on hand, including a fired-up student section poised to match the intensity of what UNLV saw at San Diego State a week earlier, the Rebels took a half to separate themselves from the Lobos. Once they did, New Mexico looked completely out-classed. UNLV's perimeter defense helped force 21 turnovers, and in turn, the Rebels outscored the Lobos 26-0 in fast-break points. Each time the Rebels began a break, New Mexico looked more and more helpless in trying to slow it down. Anthony Marshall was again UNLV's heart and soul, as his 13-point, 9-assists, 6-rebound performance would help him secure Mountain West co-Player of the Week honors. Rebels Stare Down Injury, Tough Opponent, and Live to Tell the Tale
After a fast start by the California Bears on Dec. 9, UNLV responded like a team beginning to find its identity and pulled out a tough road win, 76-75.
